I have been quiet for the last couple of weeks... I have been quiet for the last couple of weeks... I came to Berlin to spend time with my grandparents and thought I would have excess time to catch up on Insta posts and work. As soon as I got here those things became so irrelevant and the only thing that was important were the precious moments I came here to share with them. I am 44 years old and am lucky enough to have my grandparents (when you work in the field of celebrating love and life you can't help but know what a gift that is). My grandparents grew up in the rubble that remained of post-war Berlin. They have seen walls come and go, people divide and unite, the world around them shed its skin and change again and again and again. My grandparents have traveled with me (even when I was a moody teenager). They have loved me when it's been hard to love myself and showed me the world of art and theatre and music. 18 years ago my grandfather had a stroke and my grandmother became his full time carer. She is turning 90 in February and she's still too stubborn to let other people help with things that she knows nobody will do as good as she does for him. I'm so humbled by their presence in my life and so deeply grateful for these memories that @sunsoulphoto has captured so beautifully for us. I am blessed to work in a field that reminds me that photographs (and especially photographs captured by a person with the gift of storytelling) are priceless. Gahhhh, what this does to my heart. It's grinning Gahhhh, what this does to my heart. It's grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Mid ceremony hangs with Patti and John. When we started chatting about their ceremony Patti and John were worried that they didn't fit into an overly romantic wedding box. I actually love hearing that people don't fit in boxes. It means we will be blazing the way forward to a unique ceremony 🔥. The box they didn't fit into was the most amazing non-box. We laughed (a lot), and we celebrated their love in a genuine and very them way. And when they chose Adam Sandler's song 'Grow Old with You' as a reading I warned the guests that I wouldn't be singing it and then accidentally sung it because there is no other way. #firsttimecelebrantsinger Patti and John.
